Flexible Buildings for Recycling and Materials Processing

Today more and more domestic and commercial waste is recyclable and the development of circular economies through product reuse is increasingly important. Councils and specialist recyclers constantly need extra space and facilities to store, handle and process recyclable materials. 

Temporary buildings offer a flexible and cost-effective solution for recycling and materials processing facilities. They are erected quickly on available open ground and don’t even need purpose-built foundations. However, permanent versions of the same buildings can be constructed on concrete foundations. These aluminium framed, modular structures produce strong, yet completely adaptable structures.

Open-sided canopies offer flexible loading and unloading. Non-insulated buildings are enclosed but store goods at the ambient temperature outside the building. Insulated buildings have levels of insulation in the walls and roofs that allow control over the temperature inside the building.

Temporary industrial structures are ideal for use in recycling and materials processing. Open-sided canopy buildings allow municipal waste collection lorries, tippers, bailers, forklifts and heavy goods vehicles easy access to deliver, process and remove stored materials. Canopies protect workers from the rain, but these buildings often don’t need to be completely enclosed.

Where recycling or materials processing requires machinery such as conveyors, filters and separators are used, enclosed temporary buildings restrict machinery access to authorised personnel and reduce external noise levels. 

Processing of dangerous materials such as asbestos and anything that produces quantities of airborne contaminants and dust require specialist sealed facilities. However, many non-hazardous waste materials and recyclable goods can safely be handled inside aluminium-framed temporary buildings.
