HR-Structures erected a large Cargo Europe industrial building as a temporary rental solution for a company in Germany. Covering a floor area of around 1,500m² with a stepped width of 32m and 19m, a length of 47.5m and a side height of 6.3m, fully usable extra production and storage space was created at short notice. The entire process, from structural design through production to turnkey assembly, took around 13 weeks.

Building Stability

The supporting structure consists of aluminium profiles with steel connectors and is designed to withstand an exceptionally high snow load of around 194kg/m² and a wind load of 0.5kN/m². It is anchored to foundations supplied by the client using anchor plates and dowels. Steel wire wind bracing, a purlin running from eave to eave, and a portal span of 7m) ensure the necessary stability even under heavy loads.

Unique Construction

A distinctive feature of this hall is its hybrid walls which were constructed using 60mm PU sandwich panels in RAL 9006 white aluminium. One bay was laid horizontally, fitted with mineral wool insulation and sealed tightly at ground level with galvanised steel edging and Kompriband.

Warm and Bright

The roof consists of a double-skinned, air-filled thermal roof membrane with white-translucent, flame-retardant PVC sheeting. A compressed air unit keeps the insulating roof under pressure and combines thermal insulation with high daylight transmission. The translucent PVC keeps the building pleasantly bright even without permanent artificial lighting.

Building Design and Features

The industrial building was designed for day-to-day industrial operations and incorporates electric roller doors measuring approx. 2.8 x 3.5m and a twelfth door measuring 5 x 5m. These are operated by 400V three-phase motors and triple deadman controls and emergency hand cranks ensure safety and smooth operations. Seven single-leaf pedestrian doors provide emergency escape routes. A galvanised guttering system with downpipes on both long sides provides rainwater drainage and an internal partition constructed using sandwich panels down to the eaves and covered with tarpaulin above creates a separate process area within the hall.

HR-Structures also supplied the LED high-bay spotlights and all cabling that make up the building lighting system. The customer received a ready-to-use, well-lit and weatherproof industrial building as a flexible rental solution with no long-term commitment.
