Planned, custom-designed and erected as an extension of an existing Skyline building, this new, modern structure provides additional space for an automotive showroom in Braemar, Australia.
In this case, the perfect combination of strength and display was provided by a combination of glass façade and insulated sandwich panels walls. The glass is 8 mm toughened safety glass in powder-coated anthracite (RAL 7016) anodised aluminium frames. The walls at the rear of the building are 60mm thick insulated sandwich panels and an anthracite gable triangle made of 40mm sandwich panels completes the structure.
The new insulated building is precisely connected to an existing 10m wide, 20m long Skyline structure with a box rain gutter. As a retail showroom, the existing roof-line grey, branded hoarding was continued onto the new building.
The roof is hidden behind the roof-line branded hoarding. It has a 5 degree pitch to allow rainwater to drain away and is assembled from flame-retardant (in accordance with DIN 4102/B1, M2) double layer, air-filled PVC sections. A compressed air unit delivers sufficient air pressure for permanent tension and excellent insulation.
To support the weight of pick-up trucks and family-sized vehicles, the floor is built from galvanized steel panels screen-printed with woodgrain designs. This heavy-duty flooring has a load capacity of 350 kg/m² and integrated forklift pockets to aid assembly.
Skyline, aluminium-framed commercial structures are highly robust. This one has additional wind bracing for the roof and wall panels to provide even more load-bearing strength.
